Past Events
Here's what we've been up to this past year...

Why Matter Matters
In the month of July 2020, we hosted a free webinar on the topic of matter for 3rd-4th graders. The webinar was taught by NCCSD teacher Jennifer Phillips and our team provided note sheets, materials for at home hands-on activities, and live experiments. We had over ten elementary schoolers join us virtually, from New York and California!
School Supplies Drive
With the collective action of the Guilderland Central School District, we held a month long school supply drive to donate to our local Ronald McDonald House. We dropped off 150+ items, including notebooks, crayon boxes, binders, folders, highliters, looseleaf, and more!
STEM Mentorship Program - Spring
We launched our STEM Mentorship Program in spring of 2021, connecting thirteen passionate high schoolers to professionals from RPI, Suny Geneseo, Albany Med, Siena, and more.
Check out passion projects from our spring session mentees below!
STEM Mentorship Program - Summer
Check out this video of our incredible final presentation day, where our mentees showed off all their hard work and the learning they achieved while in our program! During our summer of 2021 session, we are proud to report a greater diversity of projects and more engagement than ever before.
STEM Cancer Presentation
Fall of 2023 we were able to host a presentation about cancer for local kids in the capital region at Guilderland Public Library. From learning what cancer is on a scientific level to learning about its prevention and effects, we saw the kids' excitement as they began to understand and learn more. Most of all, they enjoyed our halloween themed scavenger hunt and trivia prizes: stickers and candy!
Science Fair
Spring of 2024 we held a program for kids in the capital region at the Guilderland Public Library where students were able to experiment learning about innovation and principle scientific concepts through different experiments including spaghetti towers, coffee filter chromatography, waves machine, and candy DNA models.
Live Sound Program
In this two-hour, hands-on program students learned how audio technology supports events, performances, education, and concerts. They gained a working understanding of microphones, cables, adapters, mixers, amplifiers, and speakers. They left this class knowing how to plan, set up, and run a public address (PA) system for presenters and performers. They got insights on how to organize their time, manage an event and the people involved, and troubleshoot when problems arise. The session culminated in “running sound” for a guitar performance.
